Life at St. Pious Campus

Life at St. Pious Junior College for Girls is enriching, exciting, and energizing

OUR CAMPUS OUR SECOND HOME
Few colleges can boast of such sprawling campus as St. Pius. This college provides many facilities for the all round development of a student. The spacious and well-ventilated class-rooms can accommodate around 100 students in each room. As we can all see, there is plenty of greenery with floral edging all around. The huge playground invites the students to the volley-ball court, the swings and the slides. The students enjoy their free time, in the ground, basking in the sun.

OUR LIBRARY – OUR TREASURE HOUSE
Books are our best friends. Our library has a selection of more than 10000 books from all fields. Text books, reference books, encyclopedia, dictionaries, magazines, newspapers and journals are issued to the students. The library located on the 3rd floor can accommodate around hundred students at a time. A library period is allotted for all the students in the time-table itself so as to inculcate the reading habit and develop study and reference skills. The students are given assignments in the language classes which require them to use these books. New books on G.K, current affairs and personality development are added every year to the already existing catalogue.

COMPUTER LAB
The management of Sr. Pious has set up a computer lab with 20 systems with the latest softwares. All the social sciences students are taught basic skills in computers in their free time free of cost.

SCIENCE LABORATORIES
The laboratories like physics, chemistry, botany and zoology are well equipped with latest stock. We conduct practicals for I and II year science students for about 6 hours a week which makes them confident to take their final practicals. Each student is individually encouraged to take Lab practicals and we coach them thoroughly for gaining practical knowledge.

COLLEGE HOSTEL
Reaching out to the unreached is one of the aims of our college. With this in mind, a hostel was established on the campus in 1986 providing food and accommodation to the non-locals. The hostel is a four-storeyed structure with around 100 rooms which can accommodate 350 students a large dining hall and a study hall. There is a recreation room wherein good movies are screened and parties are held. A prayer hall was also constructed under the supervision of Rev. Sr. Regina in 1988 wherein students spend time in prayer and meditation in the evenings. The hostel students are offered excellent facilities at a very reasonable amount.

The Water Purifier plant was installed in 2007 to ensure good health. Solar heating and lights is installed for the students in 2008. The hostel provides good study environment and scope for sharing of ideas and learning from one another. There are about 350 students in the hostel as of now from all over Telangana, A.P and also from North East states of India. The students are taken occasionally on picnics and retreats. Our hostel is considered to be one of the safest places for girls in twin cities.
